Area of land and sea (wetland) protected under the Ramsar convention

  • Definition : Area of land and sea (in hectare) protected by the Ramsar Convention for the Conservation of internationally important wetland areas (1971), by municipality (district, sub-region, buffer), in any given year.
  • Calculation : The area of land and sea (in hectare) protected by the Ramsar Convention for the Conservation of internationally important wetland areas, as calculated by the sum of the individual areas for each digital shape (GIS). In case of intersection with boundaries, the shapes are clipped.
  • Unit : Hectare
