Samples were taken at several dumping and dredging sites, situated in the Schelde estuary, between Antwerp (80 km from the mouth) and Vlissingen (at the mouth). Besides analysis of different metals (Al, Pb, Cd, Cr) other parameters such as organic carbon content (POC), Ash-weight (AW), granulometric distribution, metal content in the fraction smaller than 63u, were determined
