The VivaVis project aims to enhance the survival and product quality of lemon sole and brill within the Belgian beam-trawl fishery. This initiative is crucial for improving the ecological sustainability of the fishery and providing valuable insights for policymakers. The primary goals are to determine and enhance the survival rates of undersized flatfish, specifically lemon sole and brill, and to offer advice on potential applications for high survival exemptions. Additionally, the project seeks to improve the ecological sustainability of the fishery by identifying the relationship between environmental and operational parameters on freshness, quality, welfare indicators, and yield per vessel.
