Dataset on densities of phytoplankton species and corresponding environmental parameters (temperature, salinity, nutrients, oxygen and some metals) for 57 stations in the North Sea between 23 January 1971 and 28 June 1973. A total of 786 samples were taken from different depths. Additional information (count of living or dead cells) is given.
