On 23 and 24 January 2013 an international symposium dedicated to Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) will be held in Boulogne sur mer. This scientific colloquium will be organised by the Universities of La Rochelle (LR), Littoral Côte d'Opale (ULCO), Bretagne Occidentale (UBO) and the group "Sup de Co La Rochelle". Declaration of French small scale fishermen

With the support of environmental NGOs Greenpeace and WWF, French small scale fisheries decided to unite to defend their rights in France and in the EU. Small scale fishermen Anne Marie Vergez, shipowner from Saint Jean de Luz; Frédéric Reste, president of the Professional Union of small scale fishermen of Languedoc Roussillon; and Gwen Pennarun, President of the association of '"ligneurs de la Pointe de Bretagne", signed Wednesday 27 June a Declaration of French small scale fishermen devoted to the protection of the marine environment on Wednesday 27 June. GIFS officially approved

GIFS officially approved

On 5 December 2011 the Geography of Inshore Fishing and Sustainability project (GIFS) was officially approved by the INTERREG IVA 2 Seas Programme Steering Committee. The GIFS Kick Off Meeting will take place from 16-17th January at the Medway Campus of the University of Greenwich in Chatham (UK).
