Policy makers, scientists and end users will focus on the current changes in policy concerning marine intervention and the risk management strategies of the North Sea countries (risk analysis, contingency planning and efficient database management)

The international MIMAC 2006 conference will take place on the 19th - 20th October 2006 at the ‘Provinciaal hof’ in Bruges (Belgium). MIMAC is a cluster project of two research projects funded by the Belgian Federal Science Policy Office: RAMA (Risk Analysis of Marine Activities in the Belgian part of the North Sea) & DIMAS (Development of an Integrated database for the Management of Accidental Spills)

At the conference, the results of both projects will be presented, and the integrated conclusions will be formulated. These results will be compared with international research by inviting international experts from neighbouring countries. A special session within the conference will be attributed to aspects related to the policy of contingency planning and combatement of accidental spills of compounds which are hazardous to the marine environment.
