On 4 december 2011 the casco of the new Flemish research vessel Simon Steven was lifted out of the water at DAMEN SHIPYARDS in Galatzì (Romania) and loaded on the deck of the MS Paula (Company SAL). The transport is expected to arrive in Rotterdam on the 16th. Outfitting will take place at Maaskant Shipyards in Stellendam (DAEMEN group). End May 2012 the vessel is expected to enter the port of Ostend.
