Friederike Bungenstock (Bonn University)

Friederike Bungenstock specialised in coastal sedimentology. She obtained a PhD in Geology from Bonn University. Her research focuses on sea level changes since the last ice age and the development of coastal landscapes. She is particularly interested in the interplay between human land usage, regional and local sediment supply, subsurface geological pre-conditions and the influence of long-term sea-level rise as opposed to storms as single events. She is head of department for Coastal and Quaternary Geology at the Lower Saxony Institute for Historical Coastal Research.

Victor Cartelle (VLIZ)

Víctor Cartelle is a marine geologist and oceanographer who obtained his PhD in Marine Science, Technology and Management from the University of Vigo (Spain). He has developed an international research career, including a postdoctoral position at the University of Leeds (United Kingdom), and is since 2022 a postdoctoral researcher at the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ, Belgium). His research focuses on the evolution of coastal systems and submerged landscapes during the Quaternary, integrating seismic data, sediment cores and stratigraphic reconstructions. His main research interests include coastal sediment dynamics, marine geoarchaeology, sea-level change and the use of geological archives to reconstruct past environments.

Marijn van Cappelle (TNO-GDN)

Marijn van Cappelle is a geologist and deputy research manager at TNO-Geological Survey of the Netherlands. He holds a BSc and MSc in earth sciences from Utrecht University and a PhD in sedimentology and petroleum geology from Imperial College London. After working for an engineering company integrating geophysical and geotechnical survey data for geological ground models of offshore wind parks in the North Sea, he joined TNO-Geological Survey of the Netherlands in 2025.
