Abstract:
Tasks are: ensuring and promoting safe and smooth shipping on the Western Scheldt and its estuaries by means of an effective VTS system (Vessel Traffic Services); management and maintenance of the Scheldt radar chain in conjunction with the Netherlands; assurance of maritime traffic management for the port of Ostend; provision of nautical shipping route management and nautical jurisdiction should Flemish pilotage become independent.
