| Abstract |
This report covers the progress and exciting developments of the International Ocean Institute (IOI) in 2004. Over the year there has been a spirit of change and movement forward. This year has been an acceleration of the IOI activities in all areas of its competence.The report provides the readers with an overview of the archievements, challenges, problems met and solutions found. There are examples of research and capacity building highlights, which present the IOI as an asset.The structure of the report is similar to the one published in 2003 and corresponds to the IOI goals and functions which are presented in the IOI Statutes, adopted by the Governing Board in October 2003. The structure and content of the report takes into account comments made by the participants of the Governing Board and Committee of Directors meetings in 2004. It is based on the contributions received from the Operational Centres and the Secretariat. |
