Abstract
Polycera hedgpethi Marcus, 1964 is a world widespread species that has been recorded, among other places, in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Gulf of California. Its discovery in the Lago Fusaro (Italian brackish lagoon) is the first record of this species in the Mediterranean Sea. This has a special zoogeographical interest if it is considered that this Indo-Pacific species has not been recorded before in either the Atlantic Ocean and the Red Sea. Its coloration and external and internal anatomy are described. Some data about its feeding and habitat are given. Our anatomical observations are compared with those of other authors.
