Abstract
Sollac Florange produces sheets which require a high surface quality. To this end, the subsurface quality of slabs is a key factor. Trials performed using the pilot actuator implemented on strand 2 of the slab continuous caster have shown that mold oscillation plays an essential part. As a consequence of these trials, an industrial hydraulic mold oscillation system has been installed. It was started in May 1993. This paper presents the results obtained on the pilot and the first industrial results.
