| Abstract |
Bivalve may be produced under fully controlled conditions, through capture-based aquaculture and fishing from natural banks. This paper reviews the nutrition and feeding studies which have been conducted on mussels, oysters and clams. The main constraints on bivalve nutritional research are discussed in this paper and possible solutions proposed. The need for international cooperation to strengthen this type of study in bivalves is identified. The paper also highlights the main nutritional research programmes likely to develop in support of the bivalve aquaculture sector. |
