| Abstract |
Five species (2850 specimens) of Tethinidae were collected during the year 1985 by colour traps on the Frisian islands Mellum and Memmert: Pelomyiella mallochi (Sturtevant), Tethina albosetulosa (Strobl), T. illota Haliday, Rhicnoessa flavigenis Hendel, and R. grisea Fallén. The spatial and seasonal distributions were examined and compared with older records. T. illota and T. albosetulosa prefer the white traps during the whole season, while P. mallochi shows no colour preference. Each species has a different sex index. P. mallochi is the only species occuring in old dunes, all other species prefer the beach and the nearby primary dunes. The males of R. grisea regularly fly in biotopes not settled by the females. Species of Tethinidae are on the wing from the end of May to the middle of September. |
