Abstract
The muddy detritic bottoms (D.E.), between 55 and 82 meters depth, characterized by quite a heterogeneous granulometry and the bathyal mud (V.B.), between 310 and 650 meters depth, generally with a high degree of silt, have highly diversified nematode populations (D.E.: 193 species; V.B.: 162). These are dominated by the Comesomatidae family which represents 35 % of the population in the D.E. and 39,4 % in the V.B. The most abundant species Sabatieria stekhoveni, is identical in the two biotopes. Each of these is however clearly identified. Eight species are characteristic of D.E., 16 of V.B. The muddy detritic bottoms are favorable to the diversification of the Oxystominidae, Ceramonematidae and Desmoscolecidae families, the bathyal mud to the Diplopeltula, Disconema and Metadasynemella genera.
