| Abstract |
Although Thais lapillus (L.) is an exceedingly common gastropod, associated with rocky shores throughout the coasts of the British Isles, comparatively little is known of the biology of this species. In contrast, considerable attention has been devoted to related genera such as Urosalpinx, the diet of which includes commercially important molluscs such as the oyster. An investigation has been made of the influence of water temperature upon four aspects of the biology of Thai-motility, rate of feeding, seasonal variation in growth rate, and the onset of spawning.
