Classification Uncertain (Rouse & Pleijel, 2003). Pleijel (1998:150) indicated that Microphthalmus, is not regarded as a hesionid genus by him, and Dahlgren et al. (2000) found that Microphthalmus appears as the sister group to pilargids (or nested within that group). Hesionides and Microphthalmus (Microphthalminae) are interstitial animals traditionally placed in Hesionidae. [details]Synonymy The monotypic Uncopodarke Uchida, 2004 is probably a synonym of Microphthalmus according to Westheide (2013). However, the name is unavailable in any case. [details] |
