Abstract
The Satellite Tracking and Analysis Tool (STAT) automates the process of working with satellite tracking data, including daily data downloads, backups and map updates. STAT is a free open access product with a user-friendly online interface that provides a suite of integrated data analysis and filtering tools. To date, more than 300,000 locations from 622 animals, including sea turtles, seabirds, marine mammals and sharks, are held within the system. STAT also provides education and outreach tools that allow researchers to share project information and maps with colleagues and the wider public (see www.seaturtle.org). Teachers can use STAT to engage students in fun and exciting ways by providing real-time data access for use in the classroom.
