Abstract
An analysis is made of the distributional patterns and size composition of species of the genus Myoxocephalus (Myoxocephalus stelleri, M. brandti, M. jaok, M. polyacanthocephalus) in relation to abiotic factors. Trawl samples were taken in Peter the Great Bay during the summer.Myoxocephalus stelleri is the most shallow-water species, Myoxocephalus polyacanthocephalus is the most deep-sea species. Size of all the four species of bullheads increases with depth. Adult fish occur in deep waters, juvenile bullheads prefer shallow waters. The occurrence frequency, catches and biomass were the largest for Myoxocephalus jaok that was apparently the most euryoecic species, and the smallest for Myoxocephalus stelleri that was the most stenoecic one.
