Abstract
Here is an analysis of 400 Polychaete worms collected in 1974-1975 near Haifa (Eastern Mediterranean). One hundred species are recognized. One of those is absolutely new, Serpula (Paraserpula) israelitica. Two others had never been seen in the Mediterranean and 36 were unknown in that area. The list of species and a diagnosis of the new species are given in the paper, with illustrations.
