Abstract
Information System Evaluation and Fisheries Ecology (SIEEP) is a response to the need for efficient storage scheme, standardization, validation and recovery of the database (biotic and abiotic) for the development of comprehensive approaches claimed by the scientific community to study the fishery resources. Corresponds to a digital database designed in Microsoft Access 2002. relational model has a hierarchical storage of information, comprised of three components that include several modules: annotated catalog of documents abiotic and biotic data information. It is diagrammed with a system of Access intuitive graphical interfaces through which users can browse the application, enter data, browse the stored information, running queries and reports displayed on screen, exported in various digital formats, or printed. The compilation of information derived from the studies recorded in outcrop Ecosystem Caribbean Sea Colombia since 1970, it constitutes the first application of SIEEP. A database that exceeds 250,000 records was obtained and no doubt has to become a benchmark for fisheries research in the region. The SIEEP allows store useful information for analysis and management strategies that consider fisheries in an ecosystem context in which they develop. Contributions to information and initiatives to continuously update the SIEEP are welcome.
