Abstract
Using artificial collectors in the sediment of which planktonic larvae may settle, a 1-yr study of the recruitment of young benthic invertebrates living in soft bottom gives us some information on reproduction of N. latericeus. In the Gulf of Marseilles the duration of the breeding-season is 6 months from Jan to June. It has been observed high population densities (118N. latericeus for 58cm2 because the recruitement of young individuals may occur in collectors where adults are already existing; in spite of those high densities, the recruitement of numerous other spp took place also.
