Abstract
Lithothamnium glaciale and L. lemoineae, two encrusting algae bearing short branches and forming on Quebec coasts important calcareous concretions, are described and compared on morphological and anatomical basis. Discriminant analysis, performed on the data, shows significant hypothallian and epithallian differences, thus conferring to this character a certain discriminating capacity. Furthermore, conceptacles of the two species show interesting differences. Finally, a brief description of L. tophiforme is given.
