| Abstract |
In this document, a review of the Peruvian bivalve aquaculture is presented. It commences with the normative aspects that rule this activity and subsequently discusses why the “El Niño” event favours this industry. The document further proposes management options for the main cultured bivalve species in Peru, the Peruvian calico scallop (Argopecten purpuratus). The management of its natural banks is done through the implementation of stocking and re-stocking activities by social organizations of artisanal fishermen. |
