Overview
The Institute of Oceanography (IO) of the University of Gdansk (UG) trains students in oceanography, environmental protection and geology. UG-IO in Gdynia comprises several buildings for administration, teaching and research, including laboratories, classrooms, library and research service platforms. Research activities at UG-IO are structured in topic-oriented departments, and concern various aspects of marine biology and ecology, marine physics, chemistry and geology. UG-IO offers TA services for ASSEMBLE Plus and UG s also one of the Polish partners of ASSEMBLE Plus.
UG offers three research platforms:
- the RV Oceanograph,
- the Institute of Oceanography, located in Gdynia,
- and the Hel Marine Station (HMS), located on the Hel Peninsula, about 100 km distance from Gdynia).
The former two are described here, HMS is described on its own page.
