Abstract
Sexual activity in N. lumbriciformis was studied along the year. It may be connected with distinct periods: (a) a high-activity spermatogenetic period with repeating incubations, a continuity in spermatogonial production, an accelerated spermatogenesis, a permanent production of spermatozoon in variable quantities and according to successive waves; (b) a low-activity spermatogenetic period showing a resting phase in the annual cycle and characterized by a slight development of germinative epithelia and absence of spermatozoon. Spermatogenesis seems to be continuous during a great part of the year but that continuity is moderated by some variations in the production of germ cells of different types.
