The Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) invites all ocean and deep-sea enthusiasts to a special screening of 'How Deep Is Your Love' at the Concertgebouw Brugge. This visually stunning documentary takes audiences into the largely unknown world of the deep ocean – a realm filled with extraordinary life forms that seem almost alien. The screening will take place on 18 November 2026 as part of the World Conference on Marine Biodiversity (WCMB 2026), which will bring hundreds of marine biodiversity experts to Bruges that same week.

In this breathtaking documentary, marine biologists guide viewers through the dark and mysterious depths of the ocean, where life forms exist that seem to come from another planet. As these fascinating ecosystems light up the screen, the sense of urgency grows: deep-sea mining threatens this last untouched wilderness.
The World Conference on Marine Biodiversity 2026, held from 17 to 20 November at the Concertgebouw Brugge, will gather scientists, policymakers and marine professionals to discuss the future of ocean life. On the evening of Wednesday 18 November (20:00), the conference will open its doors to the wider public for this exceptional film event.
Visitors will additionally have the opportunity to explore a photography exhibition featuring the winning images from the Blue4All European photography competition, where photographers captured their vision of marine protection and ocean conservation.
