GIFS team central role in Fisheries and Regeneration Conference in Hastings Oct 2014

"Pathways from research to shared learning: GIFS team central role in Fisheries and Regeneration Conference in Hastings Oct 2014"

GIFS has always been about partners working collaboratively with fishing communities to identify locally relevant research needs, and to help use those research findings to inform policy and practice to support the future for sustainable fishing and coastal communities. Universities of Brighton and Greenwich continued this approach with their central role in the 'Regenerating Hastings: The Place for Fishing, Learning and Tourism in a Maritime Environment' conference in Hastings on 10th October. Through co-hosting the event; and sharing our research findings via conference wide and expert panel facilitation roles, this was a positive platform to secure shared learning from GIFS with local and national regeneration and marine policy makers and stakeholders. This is just one way we have been able to develop conversations about GIFS knowledge transfer in the English inshore fisheries & coastal regeneration context. We will keep you posted as other exciting projects evolve in this pathway from stakeholder co-developed research to shared learning and changes in practice.
