Abstract
This project aims to identify the environmental and socio-economic impact after dam construction for local communities in the Mekong estuarine system. The Ba Lai estuary is used as a case study since this is the first irrigation dam constructed in the larger Mekong area. By combining an environmental impact study, with a socio-economical survey to understand consequences for local communities, the project will provide crucial information for future management practices considering the implementation of additional dams in the area.
