Abstract
A simple type of recirculation system was developed at the Institute of Inland Fisheries for carrying out investigations in fish feeding, nutrition, breeding and rearing. At present 4 recirculating systems with a total rearing volume of about 9 m³ are used. The water is purified by a combined mechanical-biological treatment for total reuse. Trials were carried out on combined fish and vegetable production in a greenhouse. For this purpose, a simple recirculating system was combined with a nutritive-film-technique-unit. During an experlmental period of 238 days carp grew from 340 g to l547 g. The annual yield in vegetable production was 20.56 kg/m² 82 tomatoes and 37.0 kg m cucumbers. For nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus as plant nutrients a mean economization of 16.1%, 12.0% and 13.8% was obtained.
