Abstract
Introduction of the Japanese Serpulid polychaete Hydroides ezoensis onto the Atlantic coast of France and remarks on the spreading of other serpulid species. Together with the Japanese oyster Crassostrea gigas, an associated fauna has been imported to the oyster banks (Gruet et al., 1976). The present paper intends to inform on H. ezoensis, one of the most common species. It was found prosperous on the banks and possibly will spread elsewhere. It should be kept in mind that several other serpulids which are now important fouling species in European harbours and lagoons, are alien species. (Mercierella enigmatica. Hydroides elegans. H dianthus, H dirampha)
