Abstract
The GC-MS/NCI is capable of measuring organohalogen and other compounds at concentrations many times lower than with the other equipment in our lab, such as GC-LRMS and GC-ECD. This is necessary because of the low concentrations in which the Poly Bromo Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs) are present in samples. This advantage added to the fact that the selectivity of the Negative Chemical Ionisation detector for the organohalogen compounds is much higher than with the ECD or LRMS detectors, makes this apparatus indispensable for the research performed in our lab.
