Abstract
    Fin whales Balaenoptera physalus (Linnaeus 1758) (Fig. 1), like all cetaceans, share a common ancestry with early mammals that transitioned from land to water. Their evolutionary history involves a series of adaptations to aquatic life, such as streamlined bodies, flippers, and baleen feeding mechanisms (Davis, 2019). Baleen whales (Mysticeti), including the fin whale, diverged from toothed whales (Odontoceti) approximately 34 million years ago (Jackson et al., 2009).
