Marien Station Oostende VLIZ

From 3 to 8 June 2024, the international Ecopath conference is taking place at the InnovOcean Campus in Ostend, Belgium to bring together scientists who make use of Ecopath, a free ecological/ecosystem modeling software.

In order to enable promising young marine professionals from the Global South to take part in the conference and the subsequent workshop, two travel grants are offered by The Sea as a Good Cause, the philanthropy arm of the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), with the support of the Leopold Hotel Ostend. Each grant – worth 3.000 EUR – includes travel, accommodation and registration fees.

The aim of this grant is to enable promising early career scientists from the Global South to participate in the conference, and gain expertise in the Ecopath software package, to promote contact between research groups worldwide and to stimulate professional careers across the globe. Because our ocean knows no borders!

The call for proposals can be consulted via https://www.ecopath40.org/supportsponsors. Deadline for submission is 15 December 2023. For questions, you can reach out to filantropie@vliz.be.
