| Abstract |
Nemaclinus atelestos occurs at depths between 27-110 m and has been collected from the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Virgin Islands, Martinique, St. Lucia, Nicaragua and northern Gulf of Mexico. It is most similar to the clinid genera Haptoclinus, Malacoctenus, Starksia and Xenomedea. A table is presented comparing certain characters of the five genera. Nemaclinus is readily distinguished from all other clinids by its greatly elongated ninth pectoral-fin ray. |
