Abstract
Mollusks are invertebrates that consist of soft, unsegmented bodies covered by a hard external shell. Mollusks are found in a range of habitats that span freshwater, brackish, and marine environments. Former sea levels are often preserved in the stratigraphic record as shell accumulations. This chapter summarizes the existing methods used to identify and interpret shell accumulations that have resulted from changes in sea level.
