Cyanorak v.1 was initially developed in the mid 2000's to annotate the first available genomes (11 Synechococcus and 3 Prochlorococcus, Dufresne et al., 2008, Scanlan et al., 2009). The current Cyanorak v.2 has been designed to allow the import and semi-automatic annotation of new sets of picocyanobacterial genomes. Since December 2014, the database encompasses 51 Synechococcus, 3 Cyanobium and 41 Prochlorococcus genomes, including 25 Synechococcus genomes recently sequenced by the Genoscope in the framework of the METASYN project and 7 by the Center for Genomic Research (Liverpool, UK) in collaboration with the Warwick University (Coventry, UK).
