Abstract
Rhizobacteria play an important role within the interaction between soil and plant. As plants grow on marginal soils, like saline soils, the importance of the rhizobacteria increases in order to maintain the fragile mini-ecosystem. Research on the rhizosphere in saline environments find its direct application in the exploitation of novel halophyllic food corps or within the development of halophytic phytoremediating crops like Spartina anglica. The current research project is oriented particularly towards the role of the rhizobacteria in terms of th Nitrogen cycling within the rhizosphere ecosystem. In the soil rhizosphere the Pseudomonads are of considerable importance. From the available molecular ariented expertise the role of the Pseudomonads will be investigated particularly. The role of the rhizobacteria within this ecosystems has to be evaluated within the complete frame of the microbial population of the rhizospher. Within this context we are obliged to identify the complete set of rizobacteria which can be done by means of the phenotypic identification BIOLOG-system. The results of this identification will contribute to the diversity analysis of the rhizosphere in order to valorise the importance of the selected and envisaged bacteria within the complete population. In parallel with BIOLOG identification system growth-physiological parameters are provided. These parameters will be further utilised in the screening of the compettion between selected micro- organisms in their transfer towards from natural to cultivated conditions.
