| Abstract |
Knowledge about the ocean enables us to better understand how our planet has evolved and how continents were formed. The processes still keeping our planet active today can be found in the deep sea, where the oceanic crust is created, ages and disappears. This book is illustrated by numerous photographs taken in the deep sea, most of them hitherto unpublished. As a geology text book, from middle school to university, it will be useful to anyone interested by the creation and evolution of the ocean crust and the formation of emerged land. |
