| Abstract |
During the course of intensive trawl surveys made by the IIPB along the Catalan coast (Western Mediterranean) for different problems in fisheries management, a large collection of fishes has been available to study the ichthyofauna of that area. The analysis of latern fishes (Myctophidae) has revealed the presence of Lampanyctus intricarius Taning, 1928, up to now unknown in the Mediterranean. Nine specimens have been studied, and there is evidence that this species has also been caught in other occasions. Taxonomic aspects, as well as the world distribution of L. intricarius are discussed. |
