Abstract
    Coastal erosion is a natural phenomenon which is seen worldwide. France is especially affected as about one quarter of the metropolitan coast is eroding. Having described the coastal phenomena based on most recent scientific knowledge, this work offers support for thought-provoking, decision-making and action initiatives to manage the shoreline and does a quick tour of potential solutions and technical possibilities.
