| Abstract |
This study aims to determine the mineral composition of brown algae Turbinaria decurrens Bory de Saint-Vincent, 1828 and Turbinaria ornata (Turner) J.Agardh, 1848. The scanning electron microscope analysis and energy dispersive were used to show the morphology of the particles and the mineral composition contained in these algae. The scanning electron microscope analysis showed the particle morphology of T. decurrens and T. ornata. Specimens analyzed using energy dispersive showed that T. decurrens contained biomineral compound elements: O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, S, Cl, K, Ca, Cu, and T. ornata contained biomineral compound elements: O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, S, Cl, K, Ca. Analysis by Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) showed that T. decurrens has 43 phytochemical compounds while H. opuntia also has 43 phytochemical compounds. |
