Abstract
Gastropods from three different localities of the Miocene Solimões Formation in western Amazonia were investigated to understand their temporal relationships. The gastropods were recovered from fossiliferous exposures at Morada Nova and Aquidabã, near Eirunepé town, as well as from the borehole 1AS-34-AM drilled in Amazonas State, Brazil. The borehole yielded the most diverse and abundant assemblages, including the new species Dyris amazonensis sp. nov. described herein. The lacustrine assemblage from the borehole has a Tortonian age (ca. 9 to 11 Ma), whilst the two outcrops are slightly younger and, having a more fluviolacustrine character, contain a non-endemic malacofauna.
