Big data applications facilitate the study of microbial ecology, population genetics, ecosystem modeling, and oceanographic processes, aiding in conservation efforts and climate change mitigation. Challenges such as data management, ethical considerations, and the need for advanced computational resources persist, but emerging technologies like AI and synthetic biology offer promising solutions for the future of marine conservation.
