| Abstract |
M. refringens, a parasite of the flat oyster, has been included in the Haplosporidian group by Perkins (1976) from an electron microscopy study. However, its cycle appears more complex than that already described. Really, after studies in optic microscopy, it seems that besides a possible phase of schizogony exist two other distinct phases of development which exhibit a certain parallelism and might contribute to the production of elements, perhaps in relation with a sexual phase. |
