Abstract
    Polychaete communities of sandy bottoms of an industrial locality on the Tyrrhenian coast have been surveyed during three years. During this time, plants for treatment of many industrial waste water effluents started functioning. Comparison between 1975 and 1977-78 data shows an increase both in the number of species and individuals. Present conditions are comparable with those of non-polluted areas. Several exceptions are discussed.
