| Abstract |
This paper presents a study of the effects on some elements of macroscopic intertidal flora and fauna of Amoco Cadiz oil spill. A survey of a few rocky and sandy sites, either beaten or sheltered, has been carried out from May 1978 till October 1980. The initial heavy mortality is followed by recolonization depending on species (Enteromorpha, Fucus, Porphyra , Lithothamniae,Balanus-Chthamalus, Polychetae, Patella, Tellina, Mutilus, Carcinus) and places. Two and a half years after the oil spill unbalance remains, locally some species have not yet resettled. Sheltered areas remain polluted and recovery is very slow. |
