Abstract
    The analysis of horizontal and vertical distribution of polychaete community in the Port of Ischia reveals a sharp horizontal zonation proceeding from the outer to the inner parts of the biotope. The main factor determining this zonation is supposed to be the water movement gradient existing from the outside to the inside the Port. This view seems to be supported by the fact that no significant vertical zonation was observed.
