| Abstract |
(1) Brown trout were given a total of 10 mu g. PCB per gram body-weight. The effects on different metabolities in blood, liver, and muscle were studied after 43 and 203 days. (2) During the first 43 days the fish were fed. On day 43 the PCB-treated trout showed blood anaemia, hyperglycaemia, enlargement of the liver, and altered cholesterol metabolism. (3) Between 43 and 203 days the fish were subjected to four months' starvation followed by a re-feeding period. On day 203 the PCB-treated trout showed higher body-weights, lower muscle glygogen levels, and a more pronounced decrease in liver triglycerides. |
