Abstract
The present paper presents the study of hydrodynamic interaction loads between two ships by CFD method. A series of different lateral distances between two ships sailing in the deep and shallow water are considered to study the hydrodynamic interaction.

One ship passing a moored ship is simulated using two identical Wigley hulls. The results give close results with the BEM method. Then, the benchmark model KVLCC2 was used to study the hydrodynamic interaction. The hydrodynamic interaction loads were predicted to investigate the effects of relative positions and water depth. Finally, the future requirements and recommendations concerning the accurate prediction of the hydrodynamic interaction loads are discussed from the actual sea-operation’s point of view.
